Although application instructions are provided with each of our henna hair dye pack, we thought, why not make a dedicated post and help you decide on the measurement.
Here’s everything you need to know about henna and its quantity as per your hair length.
Why use Henna Hair Dye?
One of the most popular hair care ingredients - Henna, has been used for centuries to tackle most of our hair troubles for ages.
Apart from being an excellent natural hair dye, it strengthens, conditions, cover grays, nourishes, and improves hair health.
It is great for your scalp, and a lot of studies back this.
But the area where it lacks is the popularity. There are a lot of studies that showcase henna's benefits for the scalp, but little or no studies about the measurements needed and how to properly use it.
And since we are a Henna Loving brand, it’s our duty to help spread the knowledge that it is a perfect alternative to conventional hair dye.

How much henna do you need for hair?
Henna comes in a variety of different packs and depending on your hair, you might need to use more than one pack.

Short Length Hair
For short, thin hair, you need approximately 1/3 of the package – Even if you’re planning to cover your entire head. Our henna hair color comes in a 150 gram package; if you buy any other brand, use more powder to be on the safe side.
However, keep in mind that the powder form looks less, but it becomes more when you mix it with liquid. You can mix it with regular water or black brewed coffee.
Shoulder Length Hair
For shoulder-length, thick, or thin hair, you need 2/3 of the package (approx. 8 tablespoons). When mixing henna, make sure to fully develop the mixture to get the most benefits. The texture should be similar to the consistency of thin, cake batter.

Mid Back Length Hair
For mid-back length hair, you need the full henna package (150 grams). If you have hip-length hair but your hair is thin, 1 pack will be fine. This is more than enough to cover roots and the entire hair.
Here’s how the mixture will look once you fully develop it.
You can also store your leftover henna paste in the freezer for up to 6 months. Just defrost it 30 minutes before use.

Hip Length Hair
Long hair is always a challenge because you have to buy more products than usual. But you can't deny the compliments - All those praises and admiration of growing long, beautiful hair.
If you have hip-length hair, especially if it's thicker you need 1 and a half packages. Of course, by mixing the ingredients, the paste will provide what looks to be more product. Add more water if it looks thick to get perfect results.
FAQs - Henna Measurement
What if you run out of hair dye in the middle of the color?
If you follow the measurement instructions carefully, then there should be no issues. But in case you run out of the paste, just add some liquid in the leftovers, and you're good to go.
What happens if you use too much henna on hair?
Nothing will happen, the henna mixture can be either too thick or too thin. If it's too thick just add some liquid. If it's thin, add some powder, and you're good to go.
