Okay, you've finally got the beard oil of your choice and now you're wondering how to use this stuff.
Depending on the oil you've bought, applying beard oil can be challenging and requires the right amount of consistency before you use it on your skin. If you don’t pick the right amount, believe us it will be a mess!
Don’t worry, we’ll try to answer it as simply as possible.
Question: How much beard oil to use?
Answer: Apply 2-3 drops of beard oil on the palm of your hands and rub them slowly together. Now apply the same oil on your hands down on each side of your beard. Use your fingers to make sure that the oil reaches deep inside your beard hair. Finally, comb your beard to make the oil distribute in each direction.
Now, it doesn’t mean what type of oil you use, 2-3 drops are enough to moisturize your beard hair. However, you can always use more as per the consistency.
People with long beards are required to use 4-5 drops of oil. Here’s a simple chart that will help you if you have a long beard:
1-3 Months Growth
3-6 Months Growth
6-9 Months Growth
9-12+ Months Growth
And that’s pretty much it. If you’re looking for a detailed note on how to apply it, then read on and follow our step-by-step how to apply beard oil guide.
How to Apply Beard Oil
Cleanse your beard
First of all, you want to clean your beard from all debris and pollution. This step is important as the dust found in the beard often restricts the oil from doing its job. So, exfoliate your skin with water, soap, beard shampoo, or any other product you use to clean your face.
Dispensing the oil
Beard oil is made with natural ingredients, all of which are mixed during the packaging stage. Dispensing means to first mixing the oil and then using it on your face. There are a lot of beard oil brands out there that use different packaging materials.

Some use bottle dropper while other use simple cap. If your product uses a bottle dropper, squeeze the head of the pipette a bit before you apply it to your skin.
- Apply a few drops to your hand
Gently squeeze the pipette of the beard oil in the palms of your hand. As we mentioned earlier, for the first time 2-3 drops are more than enough. You can always use more oil later on as per the length of your beard.
- Rub your hands togethers
After you've dispensed the oil in your hands rub it to spread the oil all over your palms and your fingers.
- Apply the beard oil on your face
Now with the oil in your hands, apply it to your beard and mustache. First, gently rub your palms to the top layer of your beard. Rub your hands on each side, top to bottom and then bottom to top. After this, use your fingers to distribute the oil deep into your hair strands.
Don’t forget your mustache. Use your forefingers and thumbs to apply the oil to your mustache. Use more oil as per consistency.
- Comb the hair
This step is also important as combing your hair will distribute the oil in each direction. For this, you can use a beard bristle brush or a simple wooden comb.
Comb your beard and mustache in a downward direction. It’s a great exercise to comb your beard daily as it helps with the grooming process.
And you’re done. That’s how you apply beard oil!
